Friday saw a strong finish to the 10-day Mom & Pop book tour. It had been a remarkable journey, one that I will never forget. Thank you, Thea Rademacher, queen of Flint Hills Publishing, for setting this journey in motion.
As for Friday’s three-fer, I thought I would skip the yada-yada and instead share photos taken by the Mom & Pop Roadie Extraordinaire, Cindy.
The McPherson Senior Center
After a spirited line-dancing class (“Man, I Feel Like a Woman”), about 25 people stuck around for a slide show and talk. Most of them remembered my parents and their stores.
Among some of the drop-ins were three high school classmates.
Roosevelt Elementary School in McPherson
The third-graders were great listeners and asked excellent questions. There are some future reporters here! But the real fun came when we worked on our hardware-themed craft project. They were told to make silly faces for a group photo.
Barnes & Noble, New Market Square in Wichita
It was another high school friend-fest in Wichita. Here’s a group shot that shows me holding in my stomach.
The evening brought two special guests. The first was my sister Karan, who bought a smashing new dress for the occasion.
And broadcast legend Larry Hatteberg came to support book sales. You know how nice Larry seems to be on TV? He’s even nicer in person, if that’s possible.
