There’s no need to hire a pro for small repairs or upgrades in your home. Most salesclerks at the local hardware store know just what you need:
The right glue to mend a broken keepsake figurine
The best caulk for weather-sealing.
A suitable picture hanger to support heavy artwork.
Tips on installing a dimmer switch.
Paint that sticks to plastic patio furniture.
Tackling small DIY projects yourself is cheaper than hiring someone, and using the right tools and materials the first time is cheaper than redoing something later on.
My dad helped me once when an overhead light stopped working. I had wired a switch to the cord to make it more convenient to turn off and on. After a couple of months, the light quit on me. I rewired the switch and it STILL wouldn’t work. So I turned to my dad, who could fix just about everything.
He took one look at how I wired the switch, then he walked out of the room. When he returned, he was carrying a fresh light bulb in his hand.
Problem solved.
This could have been me! 😂
Classic repair!!! Dads are so smart!
The confidence to complete a successful repair is the most important tool.
